Royal seal of approval for Tynemouth Station from Princess Anne – News Guardian report

Princess Anne reopens the newly refurbished Tynemouth StationThank you to the News Guardian for their excellent news coverage “Royal seal of approval for Tynemouth Station” on the recent Royal opening of the refurbished station.

Their report begins:

A VICTORIAN station which underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment has been given the royal seal of approval.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visited Tynemouth Station today to view the restoration work of the historic station, unveiling a plaque to mark its completion.

Hundreds of residents gathered at the station to catch a glimpse of Princess Anne as she met officials from each of the key partners, community groups and Tynemouth Market traders before being taken on a tour of the regenerated station, where the final phase began in August 2007.

She viewed a photographic exhibition charting the history of the station, being presented with a book that marks its 130th anniversary, before meeting pupils from Cullercoats, King Edward and Priory primary schools who had created a mural for the station.
